Communicant’s Classes Begin Sept. 12, 2017

Any young people who desire to become communing* members of Spriggs Road Presbyterian Church are invited to attend a 13 week session of Communicant’s Classes on Tuesday evenings beginning September 12, 2017.

Please contact Pastor Mang if you have any questions.

*Communing members are those who have made a profession of faith
in Christ, have been baptized, and have been admitted by the Session to the Lord’s Table. (Book of Church Order 6-2)

Lovely Ladies Club: August 31

Lovely Ladies Club meeting reminder: Thursday,  Aug. 31, 7-10pm at Gina Powell’s home. This is for ladies only, so no children please! Ladies are asked to bring an appetizer to share and something to drink. If you would like to swim, be sure to bring your swimsuit and towel. No men or children will be present and it will be a non-judgemental, no-beachbody-required swim time. We will get together, rain or shine. Please come if you would like to, even if you didn’t sign up. All are welcome!

First Sunday Food Collection

Food Assistance Request: On the first Sunday of each month, the SRPC Diaconate is collecting canned and dry goods for the local food pantry. Please bring an item or two to donate to the local food pantry and place it in the bin in the foyer.

Items currently needed by the local pantry include:

Canned and Dried Food

  • Breakfast items cereal, oatmeal, grits, etc.
  • Peanut butter and jelly
  • Canned or dry beans
  • Honey
  • Canned vegetables
  • Canned fruit
  • Canned meats (tuna, chicken)
  • Whole-grain pasta
  • Canned tomato sauce
  • Brown Rice
  • Milk
  • Cooking oil
  • Canned soup
  • Coffee

General Items

  • Pull-ups and diapers size 5/6
  • Soap
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • Wipes
  • Shampoo
  • Toilet Paper

Teen/Young Adult Volunteers Needed

Teen/Young Adult Volunteers Needed:  We need some volunteers to provide childcare for the parenting conference on Friday evening and Saturday morning, Sept 29th and 30th. We will take a collection to pay you for your time. This if a great way to serve the young families in our church body. Please contact Robin Deane if you are willing and able to help one or both days.

Parenting Conference Sept. 29 and 30

Brush up your parenting skills and be encouraged: We will be hosting a live-streaming parenting conference by Paul David Tripp on Sept 29th and 30th. Please mark your calendars and save the dates. The conference is based on his book Parenting: 14 Gospel Principles That Can Radically Change Your Family. This is open to all, whether parents of young or older children, grandparents, future parents, those working with children… The conference will be at SRPC on Friday evening from 7pm to 10pm and Saturday morning from 9am to noon. Childcare will be provided, but please note the late night on Friday. Please RSVP if you plan to come and if/when you will need childcare to robin.deane21@gmail.com. Feel free to invite others to this event, but childcare will only be for SRPC members and regular attendees If able, please plan to bring an appetizer or dessert on Friday and a breakfast item to share on Saturday.

RSVP for “Palettes and Palates” by July 30th

Palettes and Palates: A fun evening of adult fellowship and paint instruction is planned for Aug. 11 at 7pm at the Kims’ residence. Laurie Mang will give the paint instruction. Participants are asked to bring an appetizer and beverage to share. Please email Laurie by July 30th if you are interested. A supplies list will follow.
